Have you ever wondered how to cut stained glass to create a painterly effect? Are you looking for ways to create flowers and other beautiful items of nature into a mosaic? In this online course Yulia Hanansen teaches students a step by step method to create a one-of-a-kind flower mosaic. Yulia teaches this course using the “DOUBLE REVERSE” method. This method entails working on a sticky film that allows students to make changes without using an adhesive till the end of the mosaic process.

Yulia will start from the very first steps: choosing the appropriate flower, and enlarging it to prepare it for the mosaic. She will discuss proper substrates, and the qualities and properties of stained glass. She will go in-depth on color gradients, and values and tones using a gray scale. There is also a thorough lesson on cutting stained glass with all three of the recommended tools. In addition, Yulia will demonstrate her signature brush-stroke cuts, and how she achieves them. Students will learn how each of these cuts can be placed on top of the design to create a realistic flower portrait.

This course is over 3.5 hours of instruction and visual examples, every step is discussed in detail with copious demos and close ups. This piece is completed in the course, so students get the full scope of how to complete the process. There is a lesson on grouting using three different colored grouts, and Yulia shows how she creates a beautiful blended effect using this technique.

Once students have learned Yulia's techniques on how to cut stained glass in this style, these techniques can be used and repeated for many other projects with natural subjects.
