Enroll in Course
Do you love the brilliance of stained glass when light shines through it? Are you curious about how to create a piece of mosaic art that can have a similar effect as stained glass art without using lead and patterns? In mosaic art we call this technique glass-on-glass, or GOG.
Mosaic Arts Online is thrilled to present Jennifer Kuhns and her latest course, “Glass-on-Glass Mosaics.” In this course Jennifer shares her methods of combining the translucence of stained glass with a radiating mosaic design. The results are a versatile style of art that reflects light and color much like traditional stained glass art.
Glass-on-glass mosaics can be displayed in the same way as traditional stained glass. with frames, windows, doors, privacy screens, and sun catchers.
In this course you will learn:
- How to choose your frame and design
- Jennifer’s favorite tools and adhesives
- How to cut basic shapes
- How to adhere the glass and work clean
- How to make larger shapes and then cut them to fit the design
- How to cut keystone shapes for your curved areas
- How to create a radiating pattern that has a unique grid effect
- How to make sure there is no grout bleed
- How to install the mosaic in the frame and hang it for window display
- Bonus section: How to use mirror as a substrate with transparent glass
This course is great for any level of artist or maker. If you have been looking for ways to add color, design, and a dynamic look to your windows or doors, then this is the course for you. This is a great technique for creating smaller pieces to give as gifts, or simply to add to your collection.
