Enroll in Course
There is a moment… a very specific moment… when you first encounter a true micro mosaic.
It’s subtle at first. You lean in a little closer, not quite believing what you’re seeing. Something so incredibly small… yet so precise, so detailed, so breathtakingly beautiful. And suddenly, a whole new world opens up.
If that moment feels familiar, then you are exactly where you are meant to be.
For many, the path to learning Roman Classical Micro Mosaic has always required something more: a journey, a pilgrimage, a trip to Italy to access the knowledge, the materials, and the tradition itself.
But now, for the first time, that experience is being brought directly to you.
Inside Roman Classical Micro Mosaic with Jennifer Eisen, this extraordinary 300-year-old art form is thoughtfully translated into an immersive, step-by-step online course you can experience from your own studio.
This is not just about learning a technique.
It’s about stepping into a lineage.
A rhythm.
A way of working that is both meditative and deeply precise.
Jennifer Eisen, trained metalsmith and jewelry designer, studied this rare and refined craft under master mosaicist Annalisa Marcucci in Ravenna, Italy, one of the most important historical centers of mosaic art.
With a deep respect for tradition and a natural gift for teaching, Jennifer guides you through each stage with clarity, care, and encouragement.
Together, you’ll explore:
- The Legacy
A glimpse into the rich history and enduring beauty of the Roman micro mosaic tradition. - The Framework
How to thoughtfully select your bezel, plan your design, and set yourself up for success. - The Alchemy
Creating traditional Roman stucco, transforming raw materials into the perfect working base. - The Precision
Learning how to cut glass filati into consistent, refined tesserae. - The Inlay
Placing each tiny piece with intention, control, and artistry. - The Reveal
Polishing and finishing your work to unveil a luminous, miniature masterpiece.
Throughout the course, you’ll be guided through the creation of your own micro mosaic piece, designed to be achievable, even if this is your first time working at this scale.
Jennifer includes a dove design, making that first step, choosing your image, easy and seamless.
There’s also a curated kit available through DiMosaico that includes filati and tools, so you can leave out the guesswork and simply begin.
This course is designed with you in mind, whether you’re stepping into micro mosaic for the very first time or you’re ready to sit side by side (virtually) with a master of this craft and refine your skills.
Because you are learning online, you will be able to take your time, rewatch sections, pause, and create, while enjoying the process and being present with the patience it asks of you. And in the end, you will have the deep satisfaction of creating something so intricate, so timeless, and so completely your own.
If you’ve been curious about micro mosaic… if you’ve felt that pull toward something more detailed, more intentional, more connected to tradition…
This is your moment to begin.
Your Instructor
Jennifer Eisen is a trained jewelry designer who has dabbled in a number of techniques over her career, including metal smithing, enamelling and casting. However, on a visit to the British Museum in 2016 she stumbled across a showcase of almost magical, miniature jewelry pieces from the late 18th and 19th centuries, and a love affair was born. The technique, now called micro mosaics, was developed in the late 1700's in Italy using tiny rods of pulled glass called filati, which was then secured in a bezel using Roman Stucco.
She first endeavoured to learn this rather niche method on her own, but discovered it was far too nuanced to teach oneself. After researching the craft intensively, she realized the only true way to learn was to travel to the place where it all began, Italy. So in 2024 she arranged to study with master mosaicist AnnaLisa Marcucci in Ravenna, who not only became her mentor, but also her close friend. She will return to Ravenna in April 2026 in order to deepen her level of craftsmanship. She is also honoured to be chosen as an ARTIST IN RESIDENCE at Studio Panicale in Tuscany, Italy in April 2026 and the guest artist, lecturer and a participant at the Festival de Mosaique in Montreal in June of 2026.
