In this fun and informative online course, Katherine England shares many wonderful techniques and tricks she has learned for creating mosaics with beads. Students will learn how quickly a complicated and detailed piece can be created using an array of media. Katherine not only covers application techniques for simple beading, but she also discusses how to apply the materials on a variety of substrates and surfaces including some flat or three-dimensional.
Katherine shares her favorite adhesive to use for this technique. It is one of the strongest adhesives on the market and works really well with creating beaded mosaics.
In this course, students even learn to use these beading techniques on outdoor projects. Katherine also teaches how to create dainty additions, attachments, and other structures that are not possible with other mosaic techniques. Finally, she discusses a way to mix traditional mosaics with her inventive use of adhesives and beads. Your Instructor
Katherine England
is a prolific visual artist who also teaches in schools, in her studio, and at art retreats nationwide. In addition to creating and promoting public works of art, Katherine has taught and has been an activist for art education in the public school system for nearly twenty years.
Her favorite medium right now is glass and she loves breaking, nipping, melting, and coaxing it into playful patterns and whimsical figures. Her largest mosaic piece is 40' by 8' but she also enjoys playing with tinier pieces.
A variety of people and institutions seek out Katherine to create unique commissioned pieces for their offices, stores, and places of employment, and her work can be seen in both private and public collections throughout the United States.
