Have you been saving your favorite aunt’s or grandma’s broach for a special project? Have you always collected odd pieces that you know one day will make a great focal point or addition to a mosaic art project? If you answered yes to these questions we have just the artist and course to teach and guide you in creating a beautiful one of a kind mixed media floral arrangement with these special found objects.
Debra Mager has brought her Mixed Media Mosaic Florals exclusively to Mosaic Arts Online. Debra loves to hunt for those unique and special pieces at thrift shops, flea markets, yard sales, and even online. Debra has been collecting for some time but you do not need the collection Debra has to create your own mixed media floral mosaics. With just a few items and some easy to find bits you can be creating your own projects in no time for yourself or as gifts.
Debra has been teaching this style of creating mixed media florals for years and now you can learn her tried and true methods for creating these one of a kind pieces.
In this course you will learn:
- What makes a good frame for this project
- Debra’s favorite adhesives and tools
- How to choose a color palette
- How to use a template for your vase
- How to create a background and foundation with mosaic materials
- How to grout with two colors before beginning the floral arrangement
- How to edit and decide on the best pieces for your floral arrangement
- How to layout your arrangement before gluing
- How to create a balanced composition using simple art elements
This course is for any level and is designed to give you the confidence and skills to create successful floral arrangements time and time again. You can create any size arrangement on a variety of frames. You will never look at old jewelry, vintage pieces, and found objects the same. Now is the time to pull out those odd and sentimental pieces you have been saving and let's start creating!
Included in this course is a suggested list of tools, materials, and resources for download.
Your Instructor
After a successful career as a corporate marketing executive, and a lifetime of collecting art, Debra tried her hand at mosaic art. As the demand for her work started to grow from just family friends to commissions from fans across the country, Debra soon realized she had found her second calling.
Debra Mager is now an established and highly regarded self-taught mosaic artist traveling around the country to teach mosaic workshops and to participate in art festivals. She has a penchant for creating dimensional, whimsical and rather unconventional mosaic works, which include her unique mosaic floral arrangements, birds and other creatures, as well her jeweled mirrors and mosaic shoes.
Making mosaic art affords us the chance to reassemble broken parts and pieces into works of beauty. What could be more healing and rewarding than that?
